GCDFs are now eligible to administer the 16PF Career Assessment

The National Board for Certified Counselors and the Institute for Personality and Ability Testing, Inc. (IPAT), developer and publisher of assessments and interpretive reports, recently collaborated to develop the 16PF Personal Career Development Profile (PCDP-PC Plus). Originally designed for professional counselors, based on the career development training and experience required for certification, CCE certified GCDFs are now eligible to administer the assessment.

The PCDP-PC Plus is a rich assessment tool that facilitates consulting with clients on how their personal strengths can lead to career success. The PCDP-PC Plus has applications for career and personal counseling, employee and manager training and development, personnel selection, and career transition coaching.

The instrument is administered and scored on a secure and confidential Web site. Once complete, a narrative report is generated—typically within five minutes. The report includes the Client’s Feedback Section, the Client’s Self-Review, Planning Exercises, and a special Counselor’s Section.

The PCDP-PC Plus is currently offered at a discounted rate to GCDFs! We encourage you to take a few minutes to see how the PDCP-Plus can be used to enhance your career services. For more information, please visit http://www.cce-global.org/ipat.

GCDF Certification Program Approved in Korea
The GCDF training and certification program continues to grow internationally. The certification has expanded to ten countries, with over 10,000 certifications granted world-wide. In September 2007, Dr. Woongtae Kim and his staff at the Career Building System Co., Ltd. (CBSC) received full approval for a GCDF-Korea training curriculum. As with all GCDF training curricula, the Korea-specific version includes training in general helping skills and instructs participants in the use of locally relevant career guidance and facilitation resources. The opportunities for the growth of the GCDF-Korea program are promising, as the demand for career guidance and facilitation services has increased in Korea since the late 1990s.

GCDFs Qualify for the New Distance Credentialed Facilitator (DCF) Certification

GCDF-Bulgaria
(This corrects an item in the Winter 2007 newsletter. We regret the errors.)
Dr. Dawna Jackson-Sanford, Chair of the NBCC Board of Directors, and Ted Iliff, Executive Vice President of NBCC International, were present to celebrate the transfer of administration of the GCDF-Bulgaria program to the Business Foundation for Education. In the short time that career/vocational support services have been growing in Bulgaria, the Business Foundation for Education has distinguished itself since its establishment by JobTiger (http://www.jobtiger.bg), a Web-based employment search enterprise. As an example of the value of having regional/local representatives, CCE’s contact with our new partners was facilitated by the promotion efforts of Dr. Andreea Szilagyi, the director of NBCC-I’s field office in Romania and NBCC International – Europe. CCE looks forward to continued collaboration with our colleagues in Bulgaria and will provide further updates, as appropriate.

GCDFs in SC schools
The state of South Carolina (USA) passed legislation in 2006 mandating that GCDF certified providers be placed in middle and secondary schools. Introducing GCDF certified providers will allow for broader access to career facilitation services for all children and adolescents.

ILO Publishes Handbook
